  1. Is there any charge to use GCS OnLine?

    No. GCS OnLine is a free service and once registered, there is no obligation to use it. However, we hope that once you’ve seen the high level of cover and our low competitive prices, GCS will be your logical choice for legal indemnity insurance.

  2. What is the difference between the GCS Pack and GCS OnLine?

    There is no difference. Each facility offers the same high levels of cover, in the same circumstances, at the same competitively priced premiums. We appreciate that some professionals would like a choice between using a paper pack and transacting online.

  3. Can anyone register to use GCS OnLine?

    No, to authorise the issue of policies using GCS OnLine, you must:

    • be a practising solicitor, licensed conveyancer or legal executive
    • either be regulated by your professional body (the Law Society or Council for Licensed Conveyancers) or directly authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority to carry out insurance mediation (this requirement applies whenever advice is given in relation to title indemnity policies in general and is not exclusive to GCS OnLine or Instant Issue)

  4. How long does the registration and validation process take?

    Registration usually takes only a few minutes. As soon as you have applied, we will send you an e-mail acknowledging your application and verifying your e-mail address. We will then check your application details and, provided there are no problems, confirm your registration and log-in details within the hour. In the meantime, you can continue to use GCS OnLine to browse our range of products, see Key Facts policy summaries and obtain quotes.

  5. Is there a limit of how many policies I can issue online in a month?

    No. At the end of each month, you will see a statement containing the details of all unpaid policies issued by you during that month. Provided you pay the premiums due in accordance with our on-line payment terms and conditions, you can issue as many or as few policies as you like.

  6. How do I pay each monthly statement?

    You can either pay us by cheque or by BACS transfer. Details will be contained on each monthly statement.

  7. Can I pay for policies immediately without waiting for a monthly statement?


    If you are paying by cheque, you will need to attach the cheque to a copy of the policy. Cheque should be made payable to “GCS Ltd”. Cheque and copy of policy should be sent to: GCS Ltd, GCS House, High Street, Heathfield, East Sussex, TN21 8JD.

    If you wish to pay for individual policies immediately by BACS instead of paying to cover all item/s on a monthly statement, you will need to state the 10 digit policy number as banking reference when making payment. Payments should be made to:

  8. What if a risk does not meet your underwriting criteria or if the limit of indemnity is more than £3m?

    If your risk is not covered by any of our on-line policies, or you’re looking for more cover than Instant Issue affords, just refer it to our underwriters. You can e-mail us or ask us to call you, directly from our web-site. We have a dedicated team of underwriters willing and able to assist with all your title enquiries.

  9. What if I forget my password or have a query regarding GCS OnLine?

    If you’ve forgotten your password, we’ll ask you at log-in if you want to re-set it. Otherwise, for this and any other queries about using GCS OnLine, you can call our dedicated help-desk team on 01435 865 364, or ask us to call you by completing the details and clicking Call me, to the right of this screen.

  10. What is the difference between 'Instant Issue' and 'Bespoke' policies?

    Instant Issue policies are contained in our Pack and are available here at GCS OnLine, they can be issued directly by you, giving your clients instant cover, without further sanction or temporary cover notes. To provide your clients with Instant Issue cover, simply follow the issue instructions and satisfy the standard risk acceptance criterion. Our Instant Issue facility remains the quickest and easiest way in which you can arrange cover for commonly found conveyancing risks.

    Bespoke policies are arranged for you directly by our team of experienced underwriters. They cover anything that does not fit the Instant Issue acceptance criteria, which includes any cover that is not mentioned in the GCS ‘Pack’ or Online, such as new-builds and developments, complex or unusual risks and much more.
